Hixon Group Wins Digital Futures Award at Keele University’s Breaking the Mould Awards 2025

We’re celebrating a major milestone, Hixon Group has been named the winner of the Digital Futures Award at Keele University’s Breaking the Mould Awards 2025.

The Breaking the Mould Awards celebrate innovation, collaboration, and positive impact across Staffordshire’s business community. The Digital Futures Award, sponsored by Caja, recognises organisations that are helping to shape the region’s digital landscape and build a more secure, connected future.

A shared vision for a safer digital future

This achievement is the result of a strong collaboration between Keele Business School, Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce, and Hixon Group, working hand in hand with the wider community to make cybersecurity training accessible to everyone.

Through this partnership, we have developed a free, open-access Cyber Awareness Training Platform that gives employees the knowledge and confidence to recognise and prevent cyber threats. The platform is already helping hundreds of people across Staffordshire, with a target of reaching 5,000 completions by the end of 2025.

Building digital resilience through collaboration

Speaking after receiving the award, Jonathan Lawton, Managing Director of Hixon Group, said:

“This award represents a special kind of collaboration — the kind that happens when business and academia work hand in hand with the wider community towards a shared goal. Together with Colin and Emma at Keele Business School, Chris Plant at Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce, and Geoff Beadle at Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council, we’ve built something that’s helping businesses and people across Staffordshire stay safer online.

To my incredible team, your dedication and belief have made this possible. This project proves that when we work together with purpose, we can create real impact and shape a safer digital future for everyone.”

Strengthening Staffordshire’s digital economy

Hixon Group remains committed to empowering people and protecting businesses through practical, accessible cybersecurity education. The success of this initiative demonstrates what can be achieved when regional partners unite around a common goal, building digital confidence, reducing the cost of cybercrime, and protecting local growth.

We extend our congratulations to all the other finalists and to Keele University for continuing to showcase innovation and collaboration across the region.
