Our free cyber security awareness training for employees offers you the chance to get confident with what cyber security means for you and learn some actionable steps you can take to stay safe online.

Overview
This is your chance to get confident with what cyber security means for you and learn some actionable steps you can take to stay safe online.
The four cyber security topics you will cover are:
- Defending yourself against phishing
- Creating strong passwords
- Securing your devices
- Reporting incidents
You’ll explore each of these topics by guiding a fictional character to solve a series of interactive challenges. At the end of the course, you’ll be asked to complete a short knowledge check. Once passed, you can generate a personalised certificate of completion to validate your learning.
Please remember, this is a safe environment for you to practice what you learn, so make the most of it, you’ll have unlimited attempts to retry any interactive challenge or question response that isn’t quite right!

Further Information
Hixon Group developed this free to access resource in collaboration with Keele University Business School and Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce.
Newcastle under Lyme Borough Council supports the programme with funding from the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. The project aims to help strengthen the digital resilience of local businesses and employees and reduce the impact of cybercrime across Staffordshire.
Since launch in September 2025, more than 2,000 local employees have completed the training. In October 2025, the project was recognised at Keele University’s Breaking the Mould Awards with the Digital Futures Award. This collaboration shows what is possible when organisations put people at the centre of cyber security.
We now invite all businesses regardless of size across Staffordshire to take part.
