Hixon Group shortlisted for two awards at Keele University’s Breaking the Mould Awards 2025

We’re proud to announce that Hixon Group has been shortlisted for two categories at this year’s Keele University Breaking the Mould Awards – a celebration of innovation, collaboration, and positive impact across Staffordshire’s business community.

Celebrating innovation, collaboration, and positive impact across Staffordshire’s business community.

The Breaking the Mould Awards recognise organisations and individuals driving economic growth, research collaboration, and social value across the region. This year, we are honoured to be finalists in both Digital Futures, sponsored by Caja, and Going for Growth, sponsored by Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council.

Digital Futures

Empowering people. Protecting businesses. Shaping a safer digital future.

Our nomination in the Digital Futures category recognises our work to build a safer, more digitally resilient business community.

In collaboration with Keele Business School and the Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce, we launched a free, accessible cybersecurity training platform to help employees across Staffordshire recognise and prevent cyber threats.

This initiative removes the two biggest barriers facing small businesses – cost and accessibility – and provides practical, certificated training to anyone, on any device.

Since launching in August 2025, over 1200 employees locally have completed the training, and we’re on track to reach our goal of 5,000 completions by the end of the year.

By empowering people, we’re reducing the overall cost and impact of cybercrime on the Staffordshire economy and laying the foundations for a safer digital future for all.

Going for Growth

Building skills. Creating high-value jobs. Driving digital transformation.

Our nomination in the Going for Growth category celebrates our ongoing investment in people and regional economic growth.

Over the past 12 months, we’ve doubled our workforce, creating new high-value roles in support, marketing, and technical services to meet growing client demand.

Salaries at Hixon Group remain on average 40% above regional benchmarks, helping Staffordshire retain and attract top digital talent.

We continue to build pathways for the next generation through placements, internships, and T-Level opportunities with Keele University, Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce, and LaunchIT.

Our strategy for growth is simple – invest in people, drive innovation, and help local businesses embrace secure digital transformation.

Looking ahead, we plan to create three additional specialist roles, expand our cybersecurity division, and extend our training programme to reach 10,000 employees across Staffordshire by 2026.

A shared vision for Staffordshire’s digital future.

Being recognised once again by Keele University’s Breaking the Mould Awards is a powerful validation of our ongoing mission, to build a safer, smarter, and more connected Staffordshire.

From our first win in 2022 for Collaboration of the Year, to last year’s shortlisting, and now two nominations in 2025, our journey continues to be driven by partnership, innovation, and community impact.

We are proud to stand alongside other inspiring organisations making a difference across the region. The awards ceremony will take place at Keele University later this year, where winners will be announced.

Regardless of the outcome, being shortlisted in two categories is a testament to the dedication of our team, our partners, and the shared belief that together, we can shape Staffordshire’s digital future.
