Microsoft announces 2023 pricing increase for UK cloud customers

On January 5th, 2023, Microsoft announced that it will be adjusting the pricing for its Microsoft Cloud products to align with exchange rates for local currencies in relation to the US dollar. This change will ensure that customers receive consistent pricing regardless of location.

In the announcement they explained how they plan to implement a more defined and transparent cadence to provide better Microsoft cloud pricing alignment across all regions.

This means that Microsoft is adjusting the prices for its cloud products in European currencies (EUR, GBP), as well as in Scandinavian currencies (SEK, NOK, DKK) based on fluctuations in the exchange rate with the US dollar. The goal of this change is to achieve greater price consistency for Microsoft’s cloud products around the world.

Microsoft 365 Cloud Pricing Increase

Starting from April 1st, 2023, Microsoft cloud pricing will switch to a USD pricing model. This means that the exchange rate will now impact pricing of cloud products offered by the tech giant.

In this announcement, Microsoft said:

“Pricing will be reviewed and updated bi-annually against the exchange rate, meaning your prices may fluctuate.”

Microsoft will notify partners, like Hixon Group and direct customers, 30-days ahead of the planned price changes.

How much will pricing increase?

Pricing on all Microsoft Cloud services in the UK will increase by 9%.

When will UK pricing change?

Microsoft cloud pricing will increase from the 1st of April 2023 in the UK.

What products & services are impacted?

New or renewing Microsoft cloud product licensing will adjust to the new revised pricing starting on April 1st 2023. this will include Microsoft 365 products.
